Dave in a Berber coat

Here's one of my favorite moments on the Hairy Bikers show: Dave Myers sporting a Berber coat in Quarzazate.

I've been feeling quite tense all day today (heck, I have to cut some more wood tomorrow) but he's just made me laugh out loud. The way he shook his backside while covered head to ankles with the coat was hilarious. I can't put my finger on what makes me giggle so much, but it's probably that, unlike Berbers, he's got a very round figure, and also that the very generous hood kept covering his eyes.

He basically looked like an oversized garden gnome but insisted on wearing the coat throughout much of the episode.

I love their humor.

Watching Si and Dave in Southern India

Rode my bike to the supermarket and back this afternoon after a couple of exhausting days spent in front of the PC. Very nice weather, warm and not windy. I purposefully chose to ride when it was already getting dark, to give myself an adrenaline shot for the long evening. It worked. My SAD is totally on top of me these days.

Don't miss the Merry Cemetery

Today is a good day to mention the place I first heard about on The Hairy Bikers show (series 2, episode "Transylvania Part Two"): a Merry Cemetery in Sapinta (also spelled Sapanta) in the Maramures region of Romania. The bikers thoroughly enjoyed visiting it and called it, if I remember correctly, "a true celebration of life". The gravemarkers illustrate in vivid colors how the buried persons lived or died; brief text summaries follow. Apparently, many are hilarious and visitors leave the cemetery smiling. The place, originally virtually unknown, became one of the officially recognized tourist attractions of Romania.
